CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY SCHEME - WARNING
All businesses in the Construction Industry who have a gross registration should be aware that if their PAYE remittance compliance has been poor in the last 12 months then HMRC will, if they haven't already done so, be writing to them putting them on 90 day notice that their gross registration will be cancelled.
It seems HMRC have trawled through their records to determine those businesses who repeatedly pay monthly liabilities late and have then invoked the tax legislation to the letter by issuing the notices.
Whilst there is an appeal hearing process available, businesses with a bad record may find the Comissioners at an appeal hearing less than supportive where the facts speak for themselves.
Those businesses who have not yet received a notice from the revenue should take immediate steps to rectify bad payment records by making all future payements on time i.e. by the 19th of the following month.
If you feel that this latest campaign effects you and your business, call Lynne Brooks on 0151 702 5604 or email on lynne.brooks@ercacc.co.uk for advice and assistance.
